Promoting literacy for a world in transition: Building the foundation for sustainable and peaceful societies

Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology, Mohali, celebrated International Literacy Day under the aegis of Rotaract Club on the 8th of September, 2023, in a magnificent and impactful manner, highlighting the pivotal role of literacy as a catalyst for change. The day’s events featured a spirited debate and an enlightening street play, leaving an enduring impression on students, faculty, and staff. The event was organized by the dedicated members of the Rotaract Club, GJIMT, who orchestrated a memorable day of awareness and engagement.

The Highlight of the Celebration was a debate competition that showcased the intellectual prowess and commitment of our students. Participants explored various aspects of literacy, including access to education, digital literacy, and literacy as a force for social change. Our students voiced their opinions and ignited thoughtful discussions on these critical issues. Following the debate students engaged in the impactful street play titled “Illuminating Minds” which conveyed a powerful message about the transformational power of literacy. It illustrated literacy’s capacity to drive positive change in individuals and communities. The emotional resonance of the play left an indelible mark on everyone in attendance. Events like the International Literacy Day celebration underscore our dedication to fostering a culture of learning and social responsibility. We firmly believe that education is a key driver of change and development, and it is our responsibility to impart this belief to our students.
