Open Hand Monument

The Open Hand sculpture in Chandigarh, North India, symbolizes the city itself, situated in a Union Territory serving as the capital for both Punjab and Haryana. Located behind the High Court, this monument is renowned as a symbol of peace and reconciliation, serving as the official emblem of Chandigarh. Standing at 26 meters tall and weighing approximately 50 tons, the monument appears to soar like a bird in flight, capable of rotating freely in the wind. Regrettably, Le Corbusier, its creator, did not witness its completion during his lifetime, as it was constructed posthumously.
