The Department of Forest & Wildlife in UT Chandigarh has established the Chandigarh Bird Park at Nagar Van, situated behind Sukhna Lake. The primary goal of creating this park is to raise awareness among the public, especially younger generations, about bird conservation and nature education. The Chandigarh Bird Park was inaugurated on November 16, 2021, by the Honorable First Lady of India, Smt. Savita Kovind.

Designed to accommodate exotic bird species commonly found in India, the park features a variety of attractions. Visitors can marvel at African Love Birds, Budgerigars, White Swans, Black Swans, Wood Ducks, Golden Pheasants, Yellow Golden Pheasants, Green Wing Macaws, Dun Conures, African Grey Parrots, Finches, and Melanistic Pheasants. The collection includes aquatic, terrestrial, and tamed species, offering a diverse and enriching experience for bird enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
