The International Women’s Day 2004 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology (GJIMT), Mohali. The event, organized in collaboration with the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), Mohali, focused on empowering women and promoting gender equality.
The event was graced by Mrs. Sheila Didi, President of Punjab Istri Sabha, as the Chief Guest. In her address, she highlighted the historical significance of the women’s movement and the ongoing fight for gender rights. Notable speakers, including Dr. (Mrs.) Gurdeep Kaur, a renowned gynecologist, spoke about women’s health and the importance of making informed choices.
Senior journalist Ms. Reeta Sharma emphasized the need for modern women to recognize their inner strength and the role of education in achieving empowerment. Other distinguished speakers, such as Ms. Charanjit Singh and Ms. Sonia G. Singh, addressed legal rights and grassroots implementation of women’s policies.
