Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology (GJIMT) successfully concluded a two-week Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Improving Teaching Effectiveness through Soft Skills” held from June 8 to June 22, 2010, at its Mohali campus.
The program, organized under the mentorship of Sh. J.S. Bedi, Chairman, Gian Jyoti Group of Institutions, was supported by a grant from AICTE under its Staff Development Program.
The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. Dr. Vimal K. Agarwal, Director, GJIMT, who emphasized the importance of integrating soft skills with teaching methodologies to enhance overall classroom effectiveness.
The FDP featured 18 resource persons from academia and industry who conducted three sessions daily, focusing on equipping participants with practical tools and techniques for improving teaching effectiveness. The program was attended by 29 faculty members from institutions across the region, showcasing their commitment to professional growth and development.
Participants highly appreciated the program, with 74% rating the overall learning as excellent and 26% as very good.
The valedictory session was graced by Padma Shri Chander Mohan Ji, who encouraged participants to continually enhance their skills to meet the evolving demands of the education sector.
In his concluding remarks, Sh. J.S. Bedi highlighted GJIMT’s recognition as one of the most preferred management institutions in Punjab, as listed by The Week magazine in its June 10, 2010 issue. He also reiterated the institution’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and holistic development among educators.
