Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology (GJIMT), Phase 2 Mohali, organized the Annual African Students’ Meet 2025 on February 22, 2025. This year’s meet saw participation of over 200 African students from across North India. This flagship event has become a hallmark of cultural synergy and international camaraderie, and reinforces GJIMT’s commitment to fostering a globally inclusive academic environment.
The event was graced by Chief Guest, Mrs. Jean Asantewaah Kusi-Boadum, 1st Secretary (Consular & Welfare), Ghana High Commission, New Delhi and Guest of Honour, Ms. Rukalya Mustapha Aliyu, Second Secretary (E&M), Nigeria High Commission.
The day commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Aneet Bedi, Director, GJIMT. Enthralling cultural performances, including singing, dance, a fashion show, poetry recitation, and extempore competitions, showcased the artistic prowess of the African students. Additionally, sports activities brought an element of competitive spirit and teamwork to the gathering.
An electrifying African folk music performance captivated the audience, which was followed by the award distribution ceremony. The event concluded with the Indian National Anthem.
Expressing gratitude in the vote of thanks, Sh J. S. Bedi, Chairman, Gian Jyoti Group of Institutions, highlighted the significance of this annual celebration in strengthening educational and cultural bridges between India and Africa. With each passing year, the African Students’ Meet at GJIMT continues to evolve into a platform for collaboration, inspiration, and global networking.
