Cleanliness Drive by GJIMT NSS Team: Promoting Environmental Stewardship

In an effort to foster civic responsibility and promote a cleaner, greener environment, the NSS Team of Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology (GJIMT), under the esteemed guidance of Honourable Director Dr. Aneet, collaborated with MC Mohali to organize a Cleanliness Drive on February 5th, 2024. This initiative saw a robust participation of 48 dedicated NSS volunteers along with faculty members Ms. Jyoti and Dr. Shiv, all working in unison to make a meaningful impact on the community.

The Cleanliness Drive was organized with a two-fold purpose:

• Cleaning Local Neighbourhoods: Volunteers worked tirelessly to clean up mohallas, removing litter and waste to enhance the community’s surroundings. Their efforts not only improved the aesthetic appeal of the local areas but also contributed to the overall health and well-being of residents by promoting cleanliness.
• Raising Awareness on Plastic Usage: A key focus of the drive was to educate the community about the harmful effects of plastic usage. Volunteers shared vital information on the importance of reducing plastic consumption and encouraged residents to adopt eco-friendly alternatives.

The event, filled with enthusiasm and community spirit, was much more than a cleanliness drive—it became a platform for spreading environmental consciousness and fostering solidarity among the people. As the volunteers combed through the streets, collecting litter and educating locals, the importance of collaboration in tackling environmental challenges was palpable.

The participation of NSS volunteers and faculty members in this drive is a reflection of GJIMT’s strong commitment to social responsibility and environmental sustainability. The drive not only cleaned the surroundings but also empowered individuals to adopt sustainable practices, thus contributing to a healthier environment for future generations.

Dr. Aneet Bedi, Director of GJIMT, expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the efforts of all participants and emphasized the need for such grassroots initiatives.
