GJIMT conducted an impactful session on Panic Attack Management on February 6, 2025, aimed at equipping students with essential knowledge and strategies to handle panic attacks effectively. The session was led by Dr. Bhanu Mahendru, a renowned expert in mental health, who delivered an engaging and insightful presentation. Adding further value to the session was the presence of Mr. Koustabh from Mayaa Wellness, contributing additional perspectives on mental well-being.
The session began with Dr. Mahendru providing a comprehensive understanding of panic attacks, focusing on their symptoms, triggers, and the physiological responses that individuals experience during such episodes. This foundational knowledge helped students identify and acknowledge the signs of panic attacks, fostering awareness and understanding.
Practical coping mechanisms were a central focus of the session. Dr. Mahendru introduced techniques such as deep breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, and cognitive reframing. These methods were designed to empower students to regain control and manage their emotional responses during moments of heightened stress or anxiety. Interactive exercises were incorporated to provide students with a hands-on experience of applying these stress-reduction techniques in real time, making the session highly practical and engaging.
A dedicated Q&A segment allowed students to seek personalized advice from Dr. Mahendru, where he addressed concerns related to managing panic attacks in high-pressure situations, dealing with academic stress, and ensuring long-term mental well-being. This interactive element further enhanced the session’s relevance and impact, leaving students with actionable takeaways.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from 37 students, who expressed their appreciation for the knowledge and techniques shared. Many students highlighted that the session had equipped them with valuable tools to manage stress and anxiety effectively, both in their academic pursuits and personal lives. Faculty members also praised the initiative for its focus on promoting mental health awareness and supporting the overall well-being of students.
