GianJyotians celebrated Teej

Students and staff of Gian Jyoti Group of Institutions celebrated the festival of Teej at its campus in Phase-2, Mohali.

The festival of Teej basically is celebrated to welcome the monsoon season by newlywed girls and women with songs, dances and prayer rituals. The festival of Teej is primarily dedicated to Goddess Parvati and her union with Lord Shiva. The festivals celebrate the bounty of nature, arrival of clouds and rain, greenery and birds with social activity, rituals and cultural.

The women on this day perform dances, singing getting together with friends and telling stories, dressing up with henna-coloured hands and feet, colorful clothes, sharing festive food and swings under green trees.
In Punjab festival of Teej is known as “Teeyan” which is dedicated to onset of the monsoon. This festival is celebrated for about 13 days. As a part of this celebration the Gian Jyoti students take initiative and every year celebrate this festival at its campus with great enthusiasm.

Dr. Aneet Bedi, Director, Gian Jyoti Group while congratulating all the participants for the celebration of Teej festival said that she is very happy to see that our foreign students as well as students of other states of India have joined the celebration of the festival of Teej which primarily is a festival of Punjab.
She further said that the celebration of Teej festival brings happiness to all the young women. This festival is awaited in Punjab in the month of sawan, she added.

Dr. Bedi appreciated the efforts of all the students and faculty members who organized this celebration in a colorful way. She also said that such types of celebrations are very important for the overall development of the students.
