The Rotaract Club of Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology (GJIMT), Mohali, celebrated Environment Day on 5th August 2003 with a tree plantation drive on the campus. The initiative was inaugurated by Mr. J.S. Bedi, Chairman of GJIMT, who planted the first sapling, marking the beginning of this green endeavor.
As part of the plantation campaign, saplings were also planted at Shivalik Public School, Shastri Model School, and Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from Rotarians, Rotaractors, and students who came together to contribute to a greener environment.
During the event, a panel discussion on environmental issues and future sustainability strategies was held. Rtn. B.S. Khandpur, President, and Rtn. Mr. Manpreet Singh, Immediate Past President of Rotary International Mohali, shared insights on the importance of environmental preservation. They pledged ongoing support for similar green initiatives in the future.
To further engage the youth, Rtn. B.S. Khandpur announced plans for upcoming competitions, such as painting contests, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Mohali Rotary Club.
The event highlighted the importance of environmental awareness and underscored GJIMT’s commitment to fostering sustainability and community involvement.
