The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology (GJIMT) organized a special screening of the film Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl to inspire students with the story of India’s first female Air Force officer to fly in combat during the 1999 Kargil War. The event, attended by 150 students from BBA, BCA, and BCom programs, highlighted themes of resilience, perseverance, and breaking gender stereotypes.
The session, coordinated by NSS Coordinator Mr. Jagvinder Thakur, aimed to encourage discussions on gender equality and shed light on career opportunities in the defense sector. The film captivated the audience with its compelling narrative of Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena’s journey, emphasizing her determination to overcome societal and professional challenges in a male-dominated field.
Following the screening, students participated in an interactive discussion led by Mr. Thakur. The session delved into key takeaways from the movie, including strategies to break barriers and the importance of embracing inclusivity. Insights into defense career opportunities were also shared, motivating students to explore unconventional career paths.
The event successfully instilled a sense of ambition and empowerment among participants. It underscored GJIMT’s commitment to holistic education by inspiring students to aspire for excellence and contribute meaningfully to society.
