Seminar on Security Market

Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology organized a seminar on Security Market at its campus in Phase-2, Mohali. The seminar was organized by Finance Club members of GJIMT. Ms. Amanjot Kaur, Director, Innovative financial Management was the Keynote speaker on the occasion. Mr. Manish Bansal, Research Analyst, Innovative financial Management also shared his views on the occasion. Dr. Aneet Bedi, Director, Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology presided over the event.

Ms. Amanjot Kaur, Director, Innovative financial Management briefed the students about purchasing power of money, and explained them what is inflation, consumer price index, wholesale price index and its importance while taking investment decisions. She also explained how investing in equities gave the highest returns as compared to other investment avenues. With her wisdom, knowledge and experience Ms. Kaur made students financially literate.

Dr. Aneet Bedi, Director, Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology while speaking on the occasion said that the objective of this session was to impart the practical knowledge of capital market among students. There was brief discussion on how security market works, the compositions and role of SENSEX, NIFTY in the market was also explained to the students.

Dr. Bedi added that students also learned the difference between saving and investment, various investment instruments such Shares, Mutual funds and its types and also, the importance of Time value of Money, benefits of early age saving were also explained to them so that students can independently take their financial decisions after their placements.
