Women’s Health & Hygiene Awareness Program organized by GJIMT Rotaract Club

11th January 2025

Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology organized a Women’s Health & Hygiene Awareness Program in Jagatpura village, Mohali. The initiative aimed to educate women about menstrual health and hygiene while dispelling common myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation. More than 26 volunteers from the institute’s Rotaract and NSS clubs actively participated in the event.

The program commenced with an awareness session led by faculty and students, focusing on the importance of menstrual hygiene, the distribution and proper use of sanitary pads, and breaking taboos related to menstruation. The interactive format encouraged women to ask questions and share their experiences, fostering an open and supportive learning environment.

A special highlight of the event was the presence of Rtn./Rtr. Chinmay Abbhi, Immediate Past District Rotaract Representative of Rotary International District 3080. His inspiring address emphasized the role of youth in social initiatives and encouraged women to prioritize their health and well-being.

Following the session, sanitary pads were distributed to all attendees. Volunteers provided demonstrations on their correct usage and disposal, underscoring the importance of both personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness. This ensured that women not only received essential hygiene products but also understood their proper use.

This initiative marked a crucial step in breaking menstrual health stigmas and promoting public health in Jagatpura. Gian Jyoti Institute extends heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers, faculty, and village women for their enthusiastic participation, which contributed to the success of the event.
